Privacy
The app has no account, no telemetry and no analytics. This website sets no cookies; its one script counts visits without identifying anyone, and records nothing if your browser asks it not to. The short version of this page is that there is very little to tell you, and the rest of it explains the little there is.

The app on your Mac
Strata reads your files to work out what is using space. None of what it reads leaves your computer. There is no account, no sign-in, no usage reporting, no crash reporting and no analytics of any kind. File names, folder structures, sizes and the list of apps you have installed are read, displayed, and never transmitted.
Strata keeps two things for itself, in ~/Library/Application Support/Strata: a list
of what it moved to the Trash in the last 90 days, with where each item came
from, so it can put things back (from Strata 1.0.30); and, with Strata Pro, the
sizes of folders from earlier scans, to show what changed. Neither leaves your
Mac.
Your licence key is checked on your own Mac using a signature, with no network involved. That is why the app works offline, and why we cannot count how many machines you use it on even if we wanted to.
The app makes exactly one kind of network request, and you can switch it off:
- Updating itself. Once an hour (once a day before Strata 1.0.17) it fetches a small file from this website to see whether there is a new version, and when there is, it downloads it from here too and installs it while you are away from Strata, or when you quit. Like any web request, that means our host sees your IP address and the version you are running. It sends nothing else, and no identifier. This is on from Strata 1.0.5, and one switch in Settings, Update Strata automatically, turns it off; with it off, the app makes no request at all unless you choose Check Now.
This website
The site sets no cookies and has no tracking pixels and no advertising. The only thing on it from anyone else is the row of directory badges in the footer, described below. Its one script is SnowAnalytics, which counts visits so we can see which pages are read and where visitors come from. SnowAnalytics is run by Kapybara LLC, the company that makes Strata.
For each page it records the page's address, the page you came from, your
screen size and any campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source),
and, if you click one, the address of a link to another site, an email link or
a download. From the request it works out your browser, operating system,
device type and approximate location, and then discards your IP address
without storing it. Visits are counted with an identifier made from the site,
your IP address, your browser and a value that changes every day, so it cannot
be turned back into your address and does not follow you from one day to the
next. Nothing is stored on your device.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, the script records nothing at all. The page you return to after buying never loads it, because its address carries your email and payment reference. SnowAnalytics sets out its side in its own privacy policy. Our legal basis is legitimate interest in knowing which pages help people and which do not.
The server also tells SnowAnalytics when a known AI crawler, such as GPTBot or ClaudeBot, fetches a page: which page, the crawler's name and the address it came from. Requests from people are never reported this way.
The footer shows badges from the directories that list Strata: Findly, Wired Business, Kick Product, SpacerrApps, SaaS Branch, SaaS Crawler, MacNative, Dofollow.Tools, Startup Fame and CodeHype. Your browser loads each badge from that directory's own server, so, as with any image from another site, the directory sees your IP address, your browser and that you are on this site (not which page), and may count the view. We get nothing back from them about you, and what each does with the request is covered by its own privacy policy.
The site is served by Cloudflare, who process request logs including IP addresses for security and to keep the service running. Our legal basis is legitimate interest in operating a site that works and is not attacked.
When you buy
Payment is handled by Dodo Payments as merchant of record. They collect your payment details and your billing information; we never see your card number. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy, and for it they are the controller, not us.
What reaches us is what we need in order to give you a licence and support it:

That is the entire record. There is no profile, no purchase history beyond the purchase itself, no marketing list, and no attempt to work out who you are beyond the address you paid with.
Who else sees it
- Cloudflare hosts this website and stores the licence records described above.
- Dodo Payments processes the transaction as merchant of record.
- Google Workspace carries email you send to
support@stratamaccleaner.com. - SnowAnalytics, run by Kapybara LLC, counts visits to this website as described above, and keeps the counts with Tinybird.
- The directories whose badges are in the footer receive your browser's request for each badge, as described above.
We do not sell personal information, share it for advertising, or pass it to anyone not named above.
Where it is stored
Our licence database is currently hosted in the Asia-Pacific region, and our email in the United States. If you are in the UK or the EU, your details are therefore transferred outside your region, under the standard contractual clauses those providers offer for the purpose.
SnowAnalytics' providers may process visit counts outside your region too, including in the United States, under standard contractual clauses where those are required.
How long we keep it
Licence records are kept for as long as the licence exists, which is permanently, because the licence itself does not expire and the commonest support request we expect is somebody asking us to resend a key they bought years ago. Ask us to delete yours and we will, on the understanding that we can no longer look it up for you afterwards.
Support emails are kept while they are useful and then deleted.
Visit counts are kept while they help us see how the site is doing. They hold no IP address, and their visitor identifier changes every day.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EU, the GDPR gives you the right to ask for a copy of what we hold, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. There is no charge and no form.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU it is the authority for the country you live in. We would rather you raised it with us first, but that is your choice and not a condition.
If you are in California, you have the right to know what we collect, to have it deleted, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, and we will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any of this, email support@stratamaccleaner.com. We may ask you to confirm the payment reference, so that we do not hand your purchase details to somebody else claiming to be you.
Children
Strata is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date below changes with it. We will not quietly start collecting something this page says we do not.
