- Recently Removed. A new room under Tools lists what Strata moves to the Trash from now on, for 90 days, with where each item came from and where it is now. Put Back works from there while an item is still in the Trash, even after Strata has quit or updated. It is free, so what was moved during the trial can come back after it.
- Finder’s Put Back. It cannot be counted on for what an app, rather than Finder, moved to the Trash. Recently Removed keeps its own record of where each item came from.
- Nothing replaced. Put Back leaves an item in the Trash when something is at its old place again, such as a cache its app has made anew, and says so. Copy List gives a removal as text, to keep or to send to support.

- Build output of idle projects. Junk Files finds what projects’ tools build and make again: Flutter’s build and .dart_tool, Rust’s target, Swift’s .build, Gradle’s build, CocoaPods’ Pods, Python’s virtual environments, the caches of Next.js and other web frameworks, and Unity’s Library. As with node_modules, each is ticked only when nothing in its project has changed for three months.
- More for developers. Junk Files also finds simulators for a version of iOS no longer installed, which cannot run, and lists Xcode’s archives without ticking them for you, since their symbols are needed to read crash reports.
- Installers, virtual machines and games. iPhone and iPad updates and macOS installers join the installers. Virtual machines (UTM, Parallels, VMware, VirtualBox and Docker’s disk) and games from Steam and Epic are listed in groups of their own, with when each last changed, and never ticked for you.
- Simulators and sounds in System Data. Xcode’s simulators at their real size, with Open Xcode, and GarageBand and Logic Pro’s sounds, with Open Storage Settings: both are removed there, not by moving folders.

- No more freezing in the list view. On a disk with millions of items, Option-click on a triangle in the Space Map’s list view opened everything inside a folder at once, which could freeze Strata for minutes. It now opens what is inside, the nearest first, up to 1,000 rows, in a fraction of a second.
- Long lists, 500 rows at a time. A folder with more than 500 rows opens to its first 500, with a “+N more” row at the end that opens the next 500.

- The Trash line, in full. Without Full Disk Access, macOS keeps the Trash closed to apps, and the warning for a disk under 2% free then says that anything in the Trash takes space until it is emptied. That line was cut off; it now fits.
- When the hourly notice starts. Settings now says it comes once the disk is under 5% free and also under the share you chose. It said under 5% alone, which was wrong if you chose less than 5%.
1.0.26
Free · Strata Pro
- Disk warnings you set. A Mac whose disk fills can stop responding until it is forced off, and Strata waited for the last tenth of the disk or 20 GB, whichever was less, to say so once a day: on a 1 TB disk, the last 2%. Now the disk counts as almost full under a share you choose in Settings, under Notices, from 2% to 20% free (10% unless you change it). It tells you once a day, and every hour once it is also under 5% free, when the notice also says how much to clear to get back to 5%.
- A warning from the menu bar under 2%. When less than 2% is free, a warning drops from Strata’s icon in the menu bar, over every app and on every Space, every hour until there is room: what is left, how much to clear, and the Trash, Junk Files and the Space Map, each a click away (Junk Files needs Strata Pro or the trial). It closes by itself once the disk is back above 2%.
- Checked every minute. Strata reads the disk every minute instead of every quarter of an hour, and when a warning becomes more urgent, it comes at once.

- Two reminders before the trial ends. Five days and two days before the trial ends, a notice says what Strata found on this Mac that can go and what the trial has moved so far, and, when Strata found more than the trial can still move, how much that is. They come only while Strata is open, in its window or the menu bar, and never at night. Turn them off in Settings, under Notices.
- Apps with a system extension go by way of Finder. macOS removes an app’s system extension, such as a camera or network extension, only when Finder moves the app to the Trash; moved any other way, the extension keeps running. Strata now leaves such an app to Finder: Show in Finder selects it there, where Command-Delete moves it, and Strata still clears what it left in your Library.
- Startup Items on macOS 13 and 14. System Settings has no switch for system extensions before macOS 15, so their rows no longer offer Turn Off, and say how one goes instead. On every macOS, the room names the Login Items pane as that Mac shows it.

- node_modules, judged by the whole project. 1.0.23 ticked a project’s node_modules when its folder, package.json and lockfile had not changed for three months, and editing a file changes none of those, so a project edited every day could be ticked. Strata now looks at the project’s files and its Git history, and ticks node_modules only when nothing in the project has changed for three months. Finder looking at the folder does not count. A project too big to check is left unticked, and says so.

- Junk Files finds much more. Browsers and the apps built like them (Arc, Chrome, Brave, Edge, Slack, Discord, VS Code, Claude) keep their caches beside their settings rather than with other apps’ caches, and Strata now looks there, profile by profile, and leaves them while the app is open. With Full Disk Access it also reads the caches sandboxed apps keep in their own containers. More developer tools’ caches are found, and the node_modules of projects: ticked only where a lockfile brings the same versions back and the project has not been touched for three months.
- Old Downloads. What in Downloads you have not opened for three months, from 10 MB, listed apart with when each was last used. They are yours, so they are never ticked for you, never part of Optimize, and never counted as junk that is safe to clean; the Overview gives them a line of their own.

- Dock icons for apps that are gone. Every account on a Mac keeps its own Dock, and one account cannot change another’s, so an app uninstalled in one account stayed in the others’ Docks as a question mark. When Strata opens, it now offers to remove Dock icons for apps no longer on this Mac, whichever way they went. It leaves alone apps that were only moved, and apps on a disk that is not connected.
- Shared apps. After uninstalling an app from Applications on a Mac with more than one account, Strata says the other accounts’ Docks may keep its icon until Strata opens there.

- A new signing key for Strata Pro. Licence keys are signed when you buy, and Strata checks the signature on your Mac without going online. The server that signs them lost its key, so Strata Pro now has a new one. Keys issued from now on need Strata 1.0.21 or later; every key bought before keeps working, in every version.
- The AI Data Sweeper now says that a card may tell you how its models go, as Ollama’s does since Ollama 0.40, as well as how they come back.
1.0.20

- Lighter on the processor. With the window open on the Overview, Strata kept a whole processor core busy whenever there was junk to clear, even behind other windows: the Optimize button’s slow pulse was redrawn by Strata itself, as fast as it could go. The pulse, the spinners and the scan’s progress ring are now drawn by macOS, at no cost to Strata; the animations that remain stop while the window cannot be seen; and a scan updates the window four times a second rather than ten.
- Ollama 0.40 and later. Ollama now keeps each model in a newer form as well,
and removing one of its models with Strata could leave Ollama unable to remove it later. Strata
now lists Ollama’s models with their sizes and leaves removing them to Ollama, with the
ollama rmcommand ready to copy. If Ollama cannot remove a model since one went with Strata 1.0.19, Put Back brings the file back, orollama pulldownloads the model again. - Hugging Face’s shared files. Since huggingface_hub 1.32, a file downloaded through Xet is kept once for every model that uses it. Strata counts those files with each model and moves them with the last model that uses them, so a model shows its real size and removing it frees that space.
- System Data. Time Machine’s snapshots are counted as tmutil lists them, those it marks dataless included. AI models have a part of their own, since Storage settings counts those kept outside the Library folder elsewhere, and its line says what the AI Data Sweeper found, even when that is nothing.
- Junk Files also finds what npx downloaded to run a package, and Optimize leaves it while Node is running.
1.0.19
Free · Strata Pro
- System Data, opened up. A new room for what Storage settings counts as System Data and beside it. What System Data holds that can go (caches, logs, leftovers and AI models) each has its room; beside it are iPhone and iPad backups by device and age, the copies of attachments Mail saved, what Messages keeps, Time Machine’s local snapshots, and the Trash, each tagged with the category that counts it. Backups and Mail’s copies go to the Trash; Messages and Time Machine open their own settings.
- The Trash, said plainly. What Strata removes waits in the Trash, still taking space, until it is emptied in Finder. Strata now says so after every removal, and the Overview shows what waits there, with Open Trash, where it used to say the space was freed.
- Notices. A word when the disk is almost full, at most once a day, and, if you turn it on, a weekly one when junk has built up again. Both are worked out on the Mac, and both can be turned off in Settings.
- The trial is still 14 days of everything, and now moves up to 40 GB to the Trash in that time. Put Back gives back what it returns.
- Fixed: the AI Data Sweeper said that turning off Apple Intelligence or Siri lets macOS remove their models, which Apple does not say, and named a settings page macOS 27 no longer has. It now says only macOS removes them, and opens Siri’s settings or System Settings. And while a newer Ollama keeps a second folder of model lists, no layer of it is offered as an unused download.

- Uninstalled apps leave the Dock. An app Strata moved to the Trash kept its icon in the Dock, where it opened the app from the Trash and showed a question mark once the Trash was emptied. Now the icon goes with the app, and Undo puts it back where it was.
- Your disk in one bar. Under Scan and Optimize, the Overview now shows the whole disk in one bar: what is available, what macOS needs, and what is taking the most, with Downloads and Pictures shown apart from your other documents. Large Files takes the disk's place among the four figures, and the Mac's details sit in one line at the foot.
- Clearer words in the AI Data Sweeper about Apple's own models.

- Updates install by themselves. Strata looks for a new version every hour rather than once a day, and installs it once you have been away a minute with its window closed, or fifteen minutes with it open, when it comes back with its window and what is new. Before, an update could wait a day to be found, and then for Strata to quit.
- The AI Data Sweeper, redesigned. A summary of the AI data on your Mac, split into models, caches and other data; filters for each; and a card for every component, Apple's own and each AI app's, with View Details.
- Fixed: the room said every AI app downloads its models again, which a model added to ComfyUI by hand does not; and a tool running only its background server, such as Ollama's, now shows as Running.
1.0.16

- The AI Data Sweeper. A new room for the gigabytes of AI models on a Mac. Models that Ollama, LM Studio, Hugging Face, Msty, GPT4All, Jan, Draw Things, ComfyUI, Whisper and other AI apps downloaded are named the way each app names them, sized, and moved to the Trash in a click. Apple Intelligence, Siri, dictation and voices are summed up by feature, with a button to the setting that removes each, since macOS lets no app move them.
- Symbols in the menu bar. Each reading beside the icon has its own symbol: the battery with its percentage, the processor, memory, and the network down and up.
- Fixed: the network reading. Beside the menu bar icon it showed bare numbers, and could start with a spike.
- Fixed: the Monitor's CPU and Memory details. They open drawn, with their chart and figures, instead of filling in from one corner.
- Several apps in the Uninstaller. Chosen together, they show as their icons, each with its size and leftovers. Click one to see its files.
- One Optimize colour. The same in both looks of the menu bar panel.

- One-click choices in every room. Duplicates: Select Extra Copies at the top of the list, keeping the original, the newest or the oldest copy of each file. Junk: Select Recommended. Leftovers: Select Very Likely. Installers: Select Confirmed. Startup Items: Select All and Missing Programs.
- Everything in depth. Click anything in a list to see where it is, its size, when it was made, changed and last opened, who owns it, and for a folder, what takes the most inside it. The tick box still ticks.
- Startup Items by app. Each app under its own icon, with one tick box for all of its items. Click an app to see them.
- A wider Uninstaller. It says when each app was last opened, filters to Unused or Large apps, and selects them all in one click.
- The Monitor in depth. Click any card for its details, including every open app with Quit, and the temperatures and fans.
- One Report. Changes and Report are one room, with Changes Over Time and Summary & Export.
- Fixed during the trial. Move to Trash in the Space Map and in Unused Apps asked for Strata Pro instead of moving anything.
1.0.14

- Nothing handed to Finder to delete. What only an administrator can move was handed to Finder to move to the Trash, and asked that way, Finder could delete it for good instead. Show in Finder now selects it in Finder, in front: press Command-Delete there, and Finder asks for your password or Touch ID, and says so first if an item cannot go in the Trash. Strata no longer asks to control Finder.
- Settings from the menu bar. The panel’s Settings button opens Settings again.
- Buttons that look as they work. Move to Trash and the other buttons are dimmed when there is nothing to act on.
- More beside the menu bar icon. Choose free space, CPU, memory, network and battery, in Settings.
- One click between the panel’s looks. A button in the menu bar panel switches between the dashboard and the cards.
1.0.13
Free · Strata Pro
- The Space Map as a list or in columns. As in Finder: the list opens folders in place with their triangles and orders by name, kind or size, and the columns open each folder chosen in the next. Choose several with Command or Shift and move them to the Trash together. Command-1 to Command-4 switch between the views.
- Uninstall several apps at once. Tick them, or Command-click or Shift-click them, and each app’s leftovers are listed under it. The button now reads Uninstall.
- A second look for the menu bar panel. Chosen in Settings: cards for the disk, memory, battery, processor, network and Optimize, and a word on how the Mac is doing. Click a card and its details open beside the panel: the disk by kind, the processor’s time for apps and for macOS, temperatures, the battery’s cycles and health, and the apps using the most.
- What is new, in the app. When an update has downloaded, Strata shows what is new in it, in the window, the menu bar panel and Settings, and after updating it shows what changed, once.
- Updates install by themselves. While you are away, if Strata’s window is closed and nothing is under way, a downloaded update installs and Strata comes back in the menu bar. Before, an update waited for Strata to be quit.
1.0.12
Free · Strata Pro
- Fixed a freeze on opening. On a Mac whose disk was nearly full, Strata could freeze as it opened, with a spinning wheel and buttons that did nothing. While drawing its window, it asked macOS whether it had its permissions and whether it opens at login, and waited for each answer, again on every redraw. It now asks in the background, and fills the answers in as they come.
1.0.11
Free · Strata Pro
- No more spinning wheel on a full disk. On a Mac with little free space, Strata could stop responding as it opened. It asked macOS how much space it could free up, which macOS answers slowly on a nearly full disk, and waited for the answer. Free space now shows at once, and is updated when macOS has worked it out.
1.0.10
Free · Strata Pro
- Fixed a first screen that never moved on. On some Macs Strata sat there after opening, with no scan and Optimize stuck on Checking, waiting for a permissions window that never appeared. The permissions question now shows inside Strata's own window, where it cannot be missed.
- Scans always finish. A folder that stops responding, such as a cloud drive that is offline or a network disk, is left out after 30 seconds, and Strata says which one, with a button to scan again. Before, one such folder could keep a scan going for good.
- Folders kept only in iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox are no longer fetched to be scanned. Strata counts what is on this Mac, and downloads nothing.
1.0.9
Free · Strata Pro
- Permissions first. Each time Strata opens, it checks Full Disk Access and control of Finder before anything else. While either is off, it shows what each is for and the way to switch it on.
- Without Full Disk Access, the scan waits for your answer, so macOS no longer asks about the Desktop, Documents and other folders on top of it.
1.0.8
Free · Strata Pro
- Deeper cleaning. Launch daemons, helper tools and agents in the system's own folders, and the leftovers, junk and installers only an administrator can move, can now be ticked in every room. Finder moves them to the Trash and asks for the password itself: Strata never sees it, and Put Back works as for anything in the Trash.
- A system extension, such as a camera extension left behind by an app you removed, can only be removed by macOS. Startup Items now has Turn Off, which opens the page of System Settings where macOS lets you switch it off.
- Strata asks up front for the permissions a deep clean needs, Full Disk Access and control of Finder, and lists both in Settings.
- Ticking a helper tool ticks the daemon that starts it, and the other way round.
- While a scan runs, the Space Map shows how far it has got, with the way back to the Overview.
1.0.7
Free · Strata Pro
- Strata opens straight to your Mac. The Overview shows the disk, junk files, unused apps, the storage trend and the Mac's details at once, and fills in the rest as the scan goes, rather than waiting for a scan of the whole disk: on a full 1 TB Mac that was minutes of an empty window.
- The scan shows how far it has got, measured against the last scan of the same place.
- The disk is scanned once each time Strata starts. Closing the window and opening it again from the menu bar shows what Strata already found, rather than scanning the whole disk again.
- Starting a new scan stops one still under way, so two never run at once.
1.0.6
Free · Strata Pro
- Nothing is ever taken out of an app or a library. Large Files, Search, the map and Hidden Files no longer offer an app's own files, such as its binary or a framework inside it, whose removal would break the app. Strata refuses them and says why. The app itself can still go, whole.
- Changes is back as a dashboard: the disk's size over time beside the biggest change, what grew beside what shrank, and every change in one list with Show in Finder. The chart stays inside its card, and its labels no longer repeat.
- Changes and Search are set at the same sizes as the other rooms.
- Large Files and reports count an app or a library as one item, rather than listing what is inside it.
- The Monitor fits the default window: network speeds on one line, time labels that do not run together, and nothing cut short.
- At the smallest window size, Startup Items shows its reasons in full, and the sidebar fades where it scrolls. Optimize names what waiting caches belong to, such as npm or Xcode, and Report's figures no longer look greyed out.
1.0.5
Free · Strata Pro
- Updates install themselves: Strata checks this website for a new version once a day, downloads it in the background, and installs it when you quit, or at once with Update Now in the menu bar panel or Settings. One switch in Settings turns it off, and with it every request the app makes.
- A new Overview: the disk, its items, junk and unused apps across the top, then the disk by kind or by file type beside the largest folders, a storage trend Strata keeps itself, the apps taking the most room, recent large files and what is worth cleaning up.
- A new menu bar panel: the startup disk by kind from the last scan, cards for the processor, memory, battery and network, and the apps using the most, ranked by processor, memory or disk, any of which can be quit. Optimize is a button in its header.
- A new Monitor: charts over five minutes, fifteen or the hour for the processor, memory, disk, battery and network, with the processes, temperatures, fans, disk activity and memory pressure.
- A new Search: the kinds of file as tabs, a size floor and an order, recent and saved searches, and one click for every video, image, document, archive, installer or developer folder. A kind lists an app or a photo library whole, not the files inside it.
- Changes, in Strata Pro, is one list of what grew, shrank, appeared or went since the scan you pick, with Show in Finder on each row, and Report exports a spreadsheet, a web page or a summary.
- Optimize says Nearly Optimized while caches wait for the apps using them, and quitting one of those apps from Optimize now clears its caches as well. Apps it will not quit say why.
- Space freed and Optimize finishing play over a pane of Apple's glass on macOS 26 and later.
1.0.4
Free · Strata Pro
- Fourteen days of everything: every new copy starts with Strata Pro for 14 days from its first launch, with no account, no card and nothing to cancel. After that it carries on as the free version.
- Scan maps the whole Mac: the startup disk, with Applications, the system's share and every account's folders, rather than only your home folder.
- Keep Apple's apps closed, in Strata Pro: Music, TV and the other apps that come with macOS sit on a part of the disk macOS seals, and nothing can remove them. The Uninstaller now lists them under Built into macOS and can keep any of them closed: whenever one opens, even Music by itself for the Play key or a pair of headphones, Strata quits it. Nothing on the disk changes. A new setting opens Strata at login, so they stay closed after a restart.
- Move with Finder, in Strata Pro: what only an administrator can move, such as an app an installer put in Applications or GarageBand's sound library, is handed to Finder in one click. Finder asks for the password, never Strata, and Put Back works as for anything in the Trash. macOS asks once whether Strata may control Finder.
- Every list can be sorted, largest first, by name, or by date where it has one: the Uninstaller, which now shows each app's size, Unused Apps, Junk Files, Leftovers, Duplicates, Large Files, Hidden Files, Startup Items, Installers and Changes.
- Optimize, in Strata Pro: a second button beside Scan on the Overview, and a row at the top of the menu bar panel. It is red when there is junk worth clearing or apps idling in memory, and green when there is not. It shows everything it would do before it does anything: junk nobody will miss goes to the Trash, and apps out of the front for half an hour are asked to quit. Never an app that is in front, playing or recording sound, keeping the Mac awake, running a program of its own or busy.
- Leftover installers, in Strata Pro: the Installers room finds the disk images, packages and zips in Downloads and on the Desktop whose app is already installed, at their version or a newer one, by looking inside each one without installing anything. Install receipts move to a second tab, with their apps' icons and names.
- Finder's own icons in every list: search, large files, duplicates, hidden files, junk, leftovers, the uninstaller and the confirmation before anything moves.
- A duplicate search shows its three passes as it works. Search sends out rings while it looks, and its results arrive one after another. Entering a Strata Pro key gets a welcome of its own.
- The menu bar panel shows the battery's time left, and the busiest apps as rings, any of which can be quit from there. They are the apps the Force Quit window lists, each with everything it runs counted in, ranked by processor or by memory, and they hold still while the pointer is on them. The network and battery cards are shorter, with the Wi-Fi signal and the battery drawn in.
- Memory reads as Activity Monitor reads it: a Mac with 16 GB says 16 GB, not 17.2. Paths in your home folder are shown from ~.
- Fixed: with Full Disk Access granted, a scan of the whole Mac said hundreds of folders could not be read and asked for the access again. Those folders belong to other accounts and to macOS itself, and no app can read them.
- Fixed: the Uninstaller ticked leftovers in folders only an administrator can change, such as GarageBand's sound library, and then could not move them. They are listed apart now, with their sizes, Show All in Finder and Move with Finder.
- Fixed: in a small window, a card too short for its contents drew them over its neighbour. The uninstaller no longer lists the aliases macOS keeps for its own apps.

- A new window: a sidebar of rooms, and an Overview that one press of Scan fills in. A short tour shows the way round the first time, and the Help menu shows it again.
- The Space Map is drawn as cards. Each app or folder has its icon, name and size, the biggest things inside it show as smaller cards, and the rest of a long list sits in one "+N more" card that opens to show them. The classic map is still there, as Detailed Map in the map's options.
- Look at any folder as All Items, Applications, Folders or File Types, or search it, with what matches shown as cards. Above the map, the disk in one bar; beside it, an inspector with what the chosen card holds.
- Junk Files, in Strata Pro: caches, logs, build data and old installers that can go, with only what nobody will miss ticked for you.
- Unused Apps: apps nobody has opened in months, from the Mac's own record, each one step from the uninstaller.
- Moving things to the Trash now shows the space it freed counting up, with Finder's Trash sound. Notifications are clearer, and leave by themselves after ten seconds unless the pointer is on them.
- Search has a bigger field, examples to try, and tabs to sort by. The Trash is no longer offered for removal anywhere: Open Trash takes you to it in Finder, where Empty frees the space.
- A menu bar icon with the free space beside it, and a panel with the disk, processor, memory, network and battery. Settings turns it off.
- Two themes: Dark, and Night with Strata Pro. A saved choice of Slate, Forest, Ocean, Aurora or Paper opens as Dark.
- The uninstaller says before you start when an app can only be moved by an administrator, and offers to show it in Finder.

- The map no longer draws folder names on top of each other. A folder shows its name and size in a band across its top, with what is inside it below.
- Folders full of small files read as one quiet patch instead of a grid.
- Leftovers are grouped by app, under the app's own name and icon when macOS still knows it, and a name read from its folders when it does not. One tick box takes all of an app's leftovers.
- App icons in the Apps list and beside startup items.
- Select All and Select None in Leftovers, Apps, Large Files, Search and Hidden Files, Select None in Duplicates, and a way to tick every startup item whose program is missing.

- One paid plan, Strata Pro, in place of Charon, Hades and Atlas. A key bought for any of them unlocks everything.
- A Tools tab with seven Strata Pro tools:
- Duplicates compares contents, whatever the files are called, and counts only the space removing a copy would free, so clones and hard links are not counted twice.
- Hidden Files finds the largest things Finder does not show, and can count each drive's Trash.
- Startup Items lists launch agents, launch daemons, helper tools and system extensions, and whether anything still owns them.
- Leftovers finds what apps you removed long ago left behind.
- Installers shows what each installer package put on your Mac, and how much of it is still there.
- Changes compares a scan with an earlier one of the same place.
- Report saves a scan as a spreadsheet or a web page.
- Anything that would need an administrator password to move is listed as skipped, with the reason, before you confirm, rather than failing partway.
- The Trash, and anything already in it, is never moved to the Trash.
- Moving many items to the Trash no longer freezes the window.
- Locked features open the Strata Pro screen instead of doing nothing, and removing a licence from this Mac asks first.
- The uninstaller's filter matches bundle identifiers, so "google" finds Chrome.
- A redrawn app icon.

- Treemap of any drive or folder, with click-to-descend and a breadcrumb back.
- Full-volume scan using
getattrlistbulk, counting allocated bytes so totals match Finder. - Search by name or extension, and a large-files view with a size floor.
- Live processor, memory, battery and free-space readouts.
- Move to Trash with undo, and an app uninstaller that finds leftovers across eighteen Library locations and rates each match.
- Five themes, four of them part of Charon.
