How to clean up after apps you already deleted
Apps you dragged to the Trash months or years ago usually left files behind. Strata's Leftovers room finds them, groups them by the app they came from, and ticks only the ones it is sure about.
What you need
- Strata Pro or the trial.
- Full Disk Access, so every Library folder can be read.
Steps
-
Open Leftovers
Under Clean Up in the sidebar. The search runs by itself when Strata opens; press Search Again after you delete an app.
-
Read the groups
Each group is one app that is no longer on this Mac, with its icon when macOS remembers it. Each item says where it is and how sure Strata is: Very likely, Likely or Possible. Click one for its details.
-
Select Very Likely
Press Select Very Likely to tick the caches, preferences, logs and other items Strata is sure about. Add Likely items you recognise as yours to lose; Application Support folders can hold things you made in the app.
-
Move to Trash
Press Move to Trash… and confirm. Put Back reverses it.
Safe by design. Anything from a vendor that still has an app, a package or a helper on this Mac is left out, and so is anything macOS still knows an app for. If you plan to reinstall an app, keep its Application Support folder: that is usually where its settings and data are.
How the grading works is in the Leftovers documentation.
